Chris SmerdonAsia-Pacific information security company Vectra Corporation is positioned for stronger growth after a global technology company purchased a majority shareholding in the Australian-based business.

CDC Software, a subsidiary of CDC Corporation, which provides industry-specific enterprise software applications and business services, has taken a controlling stake in Vectra, a leading provider of information security consulting services, managed services and enterprise security solutions. 

The investment in Vectra provides a strategic fit with Praxa Limited, CDC Software's consulting services company in Australia; This significantly strengthens CDC Software’s position in the IT security and services market in the Asia-Pacific region.

Vectra’s founding managing director Chris Smerdon will continue to lead the company, which employs about 60 people at offices in Adelaide, Sydney and Singapore.  The current operational and staffing structure of the business will remain unchanged.

iholderThe SA Government will offer thousands of its employees the chance to buy iholder, an innovative lightweight device that turns a notebook computer into a desktop unit for just $54.95.

Designed by South Australian entrepreneur Michael Zerman and industrial designer Michael Youds, the iholder portable computer stand addresses an increasing global OH&S concern about potential musculo-skeletal effects caused by long-term use of laptop computers.

Iholder’s first channel to market is Supply SA, part of Contract Services, a business unit within the Department for Administrative and Information Services (DAIS) in the South Australian Government. Supply SA delivers a range of stationery, hospital and general products to government agencies, benevolent organisations, schools and hospitals in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
