Australians have enthusiastically adopted the WiFi Body Scale, the world’s first weight scale to automatically track your body weight records securely online, for access from a PC or smartphone.
Since launching the WiFi Body Scale in Australia in November last year, specialist technology distributor PCRange has sold hundreds of the $249 devices to customers throughout the country. The WiFi Body Scale uses your home’s wireless network to automatically record your weight to a secure private web page, which you can access using a web browser on your PC or a free iPhone application. WiFi Body Scale developer Withings recently established a partnership with mobile fitness tracking service, Gym Technik, to track WiFi Body Scale data on the Gym Technik fitness app which runs on most smartphones on the market, including BlackBerry, Symbian and Android handsets.
Last year, Withings announced Twitter integration into the WiFi Body Scale which allows the user to set up alerts that automatically post their updates to Twitter accounts, so they can share their progress with followers. By default, the Twitter feature is not activated when you purchase your scale. Sold nationally through the PCRange reseller network as well as at the www.wifiscale.com.au online store, the WiFi Body Scale will be demonstrated on the PCRange stand at CeBIT 2010, starting on May 24, at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour. PCRange CEO Raaj Menon said the WiFi Body Scale had proved very popular. “We’ve had very enthusiastic feedback from customers,” he said. Jam-packed with technology, the simple-to-use scale has an extra-flat, 22.8mm black-and-steel design that provides a sleek addition to any bathroom. Developed by French company Withings, the WiFi Body Scale measures your body weight, along with your calculated body mass index (BMI), and then records it to a secure web page for access from a web browser or the WiScale iPhone application. Visitors to CeBIT 2010 will be able to view WiFi Body Scales on the PCRange stand and, if they are game, even put them to the test. More details at www.wifiscale.com.au.
