Networking specialist Billion has more than doubled the speed of its popular HomePlug Ethernet-over-power device to support Triple Play applications such as IPTV, VoIP and high-speed Internet access.
Billion’s BiPAC P108 HomePlug kit uses a building’s existing electrical cabling to create or extend a computer network to areas where wireless networks may not reach. The new BiPAC P108 HomePlug runs at 500Mb/s, more than twice the 200Mb/s speed of the previous HomePlug model. Costing just $149, Billion’s BiPAC P108 HomePlug kit comprises two BiPAC 2075 Ethernet-over-power adapters. To create or extend a network, simply plug each adapter into any wall power socket in your premises and then plug your network devices into each HomePlug’s Ethernet port. The higher speed performance of the BiPAC P108 HomePlug kit better supports Triple Play applications such as seamless high-definition media streaming, intense online gaming and “jitter-free” VoIP calling throughout your home. The BiPAC P108 also supports noise-immune data transmission over electrical wire, so there is no disruption to network traffic if family members turn on or off other electronic devices. As well as support for Gigabit Ethernet, the BiPAC P108 HomePlug kit contains “green” power-saving features that automatically detect when network devices are powered down or disconnected, allowing the HomePlug adapter to drop automatically into Sleep mode.
