 National broadband trailblazer Internode today boosts data quotas and lowers plan costs as it passes on to customers the benefits of the PIPE PPC-1 fibre-optic link, which goes live this Thursday.
PPC-1, an undersea cable that links Sydney with the western Pacific island of Guam, delivers a significant increase in Australia’s international data interconnection, thereby reducing data transfer costs. From Guam, Internode uses other cable systems to link through to the US and beyond. Internode has reshaped and simplified its broadband plan table by launching more than 40 new plans with boosted data quotas for established price points and culling more than 80 redundant plans from its line-up. Internode today provides customers using its most popular plan, Internode Easy Broadband, with an automatic 66 per cent data quota upgrade – an increase from 30 gigabytes (GB) to 50 GB per month – effective from their next plan rollover date.
Internode has also introduced new plans at $10 below previous SOHO Extreme and SOHO NakedExtreme plan price points. Other Internode customers can choose from a wide range of new plans with more generous download quotas or decide to stay on their existing plan, even those that are no longer available for purchase. Internode managing director Simon Hackett said Internode was able to deliver more value to customers because of the increased capacity and lower costs delivered by PIPE’s new PPC-1 Pacific cable. “We’re passing on the PIPE benefits to customers by increasing download quotas,” he said. “Customers using our most popular product, Internode Easy Broadband, get an automatic quota upgrade from 30 GB to 50 GB per month, which can be used anytime they want. We’ve also introduced many new plans that provide more value for customers at popular price points. “Significantly, we’ve eliminated some of the duplication that had crept on to our broadband plan table, making it easy for customers to find the plan they want. However existing customers can continue to use these retired plans and still get full support for them. It’s all about making things easier.” Business customers also benefit, with major quota boosts across the higher speed ADSL2+ range – including a new 200-GB option.
