Internode halves cost of two-way 4Mbps broadband
Wednesday, 24 March 2010 00:00

Jim KellettNational broadband company Internode today announces it has cut the price of its popular Internode Ultra SHDSL broadband plans for business by as much as 50 per cent.

Internode Ultra SHDSL uses traditional Symmetric High-speed Digital Subscriber Line technology to deliver fully symmetric broadband services at speeds as fast as four megabits per second (Mbps), across more than 350 exchanges nationwide.

The new Ultra SHDSL prices now start from just $300 per month. The flagship Ultra SHDSL plan - Direct-4M-UL 4 Mbps / 4 Mbps Unlimited - drops in price from $2450 a month to just $1200 per month.

This increased affordability of Internode Ultra SHDSL creates a widely available symmetric broadband service for businesses that have outgrown the uplink capacity of their ADSL2+ Internet connection.

For businesses that require faster symmetric broadband services, Internode offers its Extreme SHDSL in key business areas of Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Extreme SHDSL starts where regular broadband leaves off, ranging in speed from 5 Mbps to 40 Mbps, supporting next generation applications such as IP Telephony, Internet Virtual Private Networks, onsite web services and IP videoconferencing.

Internode extends fibre rollout to Tasmania with NBN
Monday, 15 March 2010 00:00

Jim KellettNational broadband company Internode today welcomed the official opening of the NBN ‘Proof of Concept’ test centre in Tasmania. The Centre allows Internode and other retail service providers to test their services in a working fibre optic environment prior to the network launch.

Internode is one of three retail service providers who will deliver broadband and telephone services over a fibre-optic network being built by NBNCo in Tasmania. These commercial services are expected to be available in the second half of this year.

Internode took the initiative to engage with delivery of NBN Tasmania Stage 1 in order to extend its experience in providing Fibre to the Home services at ‘greenfields’ residential developments in SA, NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

Internode product manager Jim Kellett said the company’s involvement with the NBNCo proof-of-concept centre demonstrated its commitment to the National Broadband Network (NBN). “Without a doubt, fibre is a key component in the future for broadband,” he said.

Australia’s electric supercar returns to Clipsal 500
Friday, 12 March 2010 00:00

Simon (left), Emilis and the Tesla after its record-breaking 501km runAustralia’s only all-electric sports car, the Tesla Roadster, has returned to the Clipsal 500 motor race this year – 12 months after making its Australian debut there  – with a world record under its seatbelt.

In October last year, the Tesla, driven by its owner, Internode founder Simon Hackett, smashed the world distance record for an electric vehicle by travelling more than 500km on a single charge in the inaugural Global Green Challenge. This achievement beat the previous world record by more than 110km.

Video of this record breaking drive is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eaxl7i2wn-Y

Internode, Australia’s largest privately owned broadband company, is using the Tesla Roadster to demonstrate the fact that it is possible to be both “green” and high performance.

Internode boosts International capacity with Southern Cross
Friday, 12 March 2010 00:00

Simon HackettNational broadband pioneer Internode has signed a contract for capacity expansion with long-standing partner, the Southern Cross Cable Network (SCCN).

Internode has lit up an additional 2.5 gigabits per second of capacity this week. It will implement further planned upgrades soon, to reach a total of 10 gigabits per second of protected circuit capacity on the cable.

Internode managing director Simon Hackett said the latest capacity expansion maintained Internode’s commitment to keeping plenty of capacity in its network. “We are seeing continued strong growth in customer numbers, so we want plenty of headroom in our network to meet that demand,” he said.

Internode tops reliability table in Broadband Survey
Friday, 05 March 2010 00:00

Simon HackettNational broadband company Internode was voted Australia’s most reliable Internet Service Provider in the 2009 Australian Broadband Survey, which was completed by more than 23,600 consumers.

Published at http://whirlpool.net.au/survey/2009/, the 2009 Australian Broadband Survey is an annual four-week survey conducted by tech-savvy website Whirlpool. The survey reports that 85.7 per cent of Internode’s customers were “very happy” with the reliability of their Internet connection during 2009.

In a separate question, 97.8 per cent of Internode’s customers responded that they would recommend the national broadband company to others. Internode also turned in a chart-topping performance in connection quality for gamers, with 57.5 per cent of respondents rating it “always excellent”.

Internode’s chart-topping performance in the 2009 Australian Broadband Survey follows a series of successes that include:

  • Consumers rating Internode as Australia's best ISP in a national review on ProductReview.com.au (www.productreview.com.au)
  • Roy Morgan Research reporting an 88.6 per cent customer satisfaction rating for Internode in its most recent ISP Customer Satisfaction survey
  • Internode’s selection as the Emerging Broadband Service Provider of the Year in the 2009 Frost & Sullivan Australia Best Practices Awards last November
  • Topping a biennial ISP customer satisfaction survey by consumer advocacy group Choice; and
  • Collecting the inaugural Best Internet Service Provider title in the annual SMLES survey held by AFR Smart Investor magazine.

Internode managing director Simon Hackett said the Australian Broadband Survey results showed that Internode was succeeding where it counted most – with reliability and customer satisfaction. “It’s particularly gratifying that 97.8 per cent of our customers say they would recommend us to others,” he said.
