Don't call Groundhog Software in Adelaide today – its entire 20-strong team is out of the office to celebrate Groundhog Day, the rewind day created by the 1993 Bill Murray movie. To commemorate the official launch of Groundhog Software on February 2, 2000, the company annually closes its doors for unexpected activities that are a surprise for most staff, including founder and CEO Grant Steinberg. After a short 'state-of-the-nation' type speech reflecting on the past year and looking forward, Grant and the Groundhogs will split into groups to design and star in a current affairs-style TV report. In this team-building exercise, each team plans and produces their own video segment, aiming to beat both the deadline and the competing teams. Once their TV show is put to bed, the Groundhog crew will head to the beach for lunch at Glenelg and an afternoon cruise aboard the catamaran Temptation. A highlight is the Groundhog Day Awards where individuals get the gong for categories aligned with the company’s values – plus a few others, such as the Dummy Spit of the Year award! But don’t’ worry if you have work for Groundhog Software: Everyone will be back at the grindstone tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Visit the Groundhog website at www.groundhog.com.au .
