SA’s largest IT distributor Leader Computers this week launches an initiative to equip its resellers with customer self-service web stores that have real-time access to Leader’s product and pricing details.
Through a partnership with Adelaide website specialist DBG Technologies, Leader Computers will provide its national network of resellers with the opportunity to deploy e-commerce enabled websites that draw live data about stock, availability and prices from Leader’s core business system. Leader Computers sales manager Jaimie I'Anson said the WebSync websites developed by DBG streamlined the entire sales process for resellers. “It’s a direct-sell solution that makes sales very streamlined and much less labour-intensive,” he said.
“We know this will definitely get extra business for our resellers - and for us as a result. Throughout our channel, we expect this automated ordering will free up sales people so they can chase up other opportunities more aggressively. This is one of the ways we’re becoming more efficient.” Leader Computers, which is also Australia’s second largest PC manufacturer, will unveil the WebSync web store initiative at its Leader Expo in Adelaide, which opens on Tuesday, November 10. Based on DBG’s WebSync e-commerce engine, each customised website will equip small to medium-sized technology stores to compete more effectively against national IT retailers. Each WebSync website costs $1000 * to set up with a $200 * per month licensing fee for maintenance and upgrades. Massoud Esmaili, managing director of the Adelaide Computer Superstore, who has ordered a WebSync website, said the system would be a winner. “It is a very good idea for small shops like us because it gives us an edge over big competitors like Harvey Norman and Officeworks,” he said. “With our old website, we didn’t have the resources necessary to maintain a catalogue of all products. That would have required two people updating the website day in and day out. This new site provides greater convenience for our customers by showing all the products that we can provide along with their pricing and availability. It saves them the time of coming to our store or making phone calls because they can place an order, pay and have goods shipped to them at the click of a button. “With the new site provided by DBG, our customers can see us as being open 24x7. As it’s not labour-intensive, I need to add only a small margin to our products, which gives us another competitive edge against those bigger stores.” Founded in 2001, DBG Technologies is an Adelaide company that specialises in designing and developing e-commerce websites. The business developed WebSync to provide members of Leader’s 3000-strong national reseller network with access to a $20,000 website for a fraction of that cost. WebSync provides each reseller with an individually branded, fully integrated e-commerce website. A WebSync site will allow each reseller to give its customers self-service inventory and online ordering facilities through access to Leader’s core business system. Benefits for customers include accurate product availability reports, real-time pricing, automated ordering and quicker delivery. Resellers gain the additional advantages of reduced paperwork, fewer errors and an automated web-selling system that keeps the reseller as the trusted contact point for delivery and support. DBG Technologies managing director Daniel Wilson said the WebSync software was designed as a distributed enterprise system that reached into small business. “By buying WebSync, small companies get access to an enterprise-grade online-selling system for a small business price,” he said. “Initial feedback has been very positive, so we are looking forward to the launch at the Leader Expo.” * Prices cited exclude GST.
