PC Range managing director Raaj MenonBroadband equipment maker Billion is named as Australia's most popular modem brand for the second year running in the 2007 Australian Broadband Survey, held by tech-savvy site Whirlpool.

Billion devices were used by 23.7 per cent of the nearly 18,000 people * who responded to the online survey, which was conducted over four weeks from December 31, 2007, to February 1, 2008.

Whereas last year, Billion was a narrow winner in the Broadband Survey hardware category, this year's result made it a clear winner - with nearly twice the penetration of the second-placed brand, D-Link, which was used by just 12.2 per cent of survey respondents.

Six Billion broadband modems were included among the 19 devices listed by the Australian Broadband Survey, which is published at http://whirlpool.net.au/survey/2007/.

Billion's Australian distributor PC Range is following up the Broadband Survey success with a Billion roadshow in Melbourne and Sydney for resellers, service providers and system integrators.

PC Range managing director Raaj Menon said the events were intended to capitalise on the success that the Billion brand was achieving in Australia. "Customers walk into stores to ask for Billion by name because of its good reputation," he said.

"Our success in the Australian Broadband Survey is quantitative proof of the market penetration by Billion. More than 4200 people voted Billion as the top broadband router brand in the country. We want to spread word of that vote of faith to the supplier side to continue to build our momentum in the market."

The Billion roadshow will showcase current and new modems as well as up-coming releases. Qualified resellers, system integrators and service providers are welcome to attend these evening events at:

  • Melbourne (March 19) at the Bayview on the Park Hotel in the CBD.

  • Sydney (March 26) at the Crowne Plaza Parramatta.

To register online for the Billion roadshow, visit http://www.billion.com.au/roadshow.php.

* The Australian Broadband Survey was successfully completed and verified a total of 17,881 times.
