Billion launches Ethernet-over-power with WiFI at CeBIT

Billion BiPAC P106NAustralia's most successful broadband device provider, Billion, will present its latest products at the CeBIT 2010 technology trade show, including an Ethernet-over-power plug with built-in WiFi networking.

As well as the recently released $199 BiPAC 6200NXL 3G router, Billion will display its latest HomePlug device, the BiPAC P106N, an Ethernet-over-powerline Starter Pack that incorporates a built-in Wireless N WiFi access point, for just $229.

The BiPAC P106N offers plug-and-play simplicity by using your building’s electrical cabling for a point-to-point Ethernet link to the remotest parts of your house or premises. The P106N’s built-in Wireless N access point uses settings from your existing wireless router, providing both convenience and security.

CeBIT 2010 will also mark the first time that Billion has shown its new BiPAC GS2024-4S, a 24-port Gigabit Web Smart Switch aimed at small to medium businesses. With an RRP of $499, the BiPAC GS2024-4S switch includes a four-port Mini-GBIC (gigabit interface converter), which provides small form-factor pluggable (SFP) slots for optional connections to fibre-optic services.

Billion launches BiPAC 6200NXL dual-WAN 3G router

Billion BiPAC 6200NXLBillion Australia has launched the BiPAC 6200NXL, an all-in-one wireless server router that uses the latest 3G and Wireless-N technologies to deliver high-speed Internet connections on the go.

Costing $199, the 802.11n 300Mbps broadband router includes two USB 2.0 ports for functions such as 3.75G WAN connection, a print server, a webcam or an FTP server for network device sharing. The BiPAC 6200NXL allows you to easily download photos, stream High Definition video or IPTV files, run media-intensive applications, watch movies or share files with customers, friends or family.

The combination of 3.5G/3.75G wide area network connectivity and high-speed local area network coverage delivers “anytime anywhere” Internet access at offsite meetings, tradeshows, conferences, workshops, at home or on the go. With a supported Ethernet WAN port, the BiPAC 6200NXL can also function as an ADSL or cable modem, with an auto failover facility to ensure always-on connectivity.

The Billion BiPAC 6200NXL also contains a Billion utility called the 3G Management Center, which lets you monitor your Internet connection and also manage your 3G monthly subscriptions.

Earlier this month, Billion claimed the title of Australia’s most popular broadband hardware for the fourth year in a row by topping the Australian Broadband Survey for 2009. Billion tops broadband survey for fourth year straight

Raaj MenonFor the fourth year in a row, manufacturer Billion has claimed the title of Australia’s most popular broadband hardware by topping the Australian Broadband Survey for 2009.

Held by tech-savvy site Whirlpool, the Australian Broadband Survey for 2009 was completed by more than 23,600 broadband consumers during four weeks at the start of this year.

Billion topped the hardware table, with 23.4 per cent of respondents nominating it as their broadband modem brand. The next most popular brand attracted votes from only 13.4 per cent of respondents.

Eight Billion routers were among the 29 models listed in the survey. These most popular Billion models include Billion’s VoIP series (BiPAC 7404VGO-M, BiPAC 7404VGP-M, BiPAC 7401VGP-M and BiPAC 7401VGPR3) and Billion’s Wireless series (BiPAC 7800N and BiPAC 7300G).
Again, more than 90 per cent of Billion users described themselves as satisfied or very satisfied with its performance. Full details of the Australian Broadband Survey are at http://whirlpool.net.au/survey/2009/.

Australian technology distributor PCRange sells Billion broadband products through a national reseller network.  PCRange managing director Raaj Menon said Billion continued to meet the needs of discerning consumers. “Most people who complete the Australian Broadband Survey regard themselves as technically proficient,” he said.
