Small business technology specialist Calvert Technologies has gained a strategic base in the pharmacy sector and boosted its headcount to 13 after acquiring the operations of Multi Media Interlan. Calvert Technologies is an Adelaide-based company that specialises in providing IT support and consultancy services to small and medium-sized businesses. The Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, which focuses on providing quality solutions that don’t “break the bank”, is currently experiencing record demand. Established in 1996 by international Microsoft Small Business Server specialist Dean Calvert, Calvert Technologies has 10 employees, servicing South Australian customers ranging from start-up businesses to enterprises and government agencies. The company has doubled in size during the past four years. Multi Media Interlan was set up in 2005 to provide computer supply and support services to businesses throughout the greater Adelaide area, from Victor Harbor to Port Wakefield. With many pharmacy customers, the company also services nursing homes, medical practices and retail businesses. In an amicable, non-financial agreement, Calvert Technologies has hired all the staff of Multi Media Interlan – including its founder Brian Bellchambers – and has assumed responsibility for client service contracts held by the business. Mr. Bellchambers will retain ownership of the company that ran Multi Media Interlan.
Dean Calvert said the two businesses had recognised they had stronger prospects through combining operations than competing individually. “There’s very little overlap of our businesses, but a great deal of synergy in terms of skills and culture,” he said. “Multi Media Interlan had struggled to attract the additional technical skills it required to gain critical mass, a problem that was exacerbated by the business turbulence and spending downturn caused by the Global Financial Crisis. With the expanded customer base and additional skilled staff members, Calvert Technologies has now gained the breadth and depth of skills it needed to reach the next level of opportunity.” Brian Bellchambers said he was looking forward to continuing to support customers as part of the Calvert Technologies team. “I’ve known Dean for a number of years and respect his skills and ethics,” he said. “Multi Media Interlan had great people and terrific relationships with its customers: I wanted to find a path that would look after the interest of both our employees and our customers. This step achieves both goals.” For more information, visit the Calvert Technologies website at www.calvert.net.au For media assistance and photographs:Call John Harris at Impress Media Australia on 08 8431 4000 or email
