Australia’s only privately-owned national freight network, Northline, has announced its first nationwide tender, inviting trucking companies to work with the business for the next three years.
Northline is an Australian logistics company that specialises in servicing remote locations throughout the country via both road and rail. The privately-owned business, which employs more than 400 people, provides freight, warehousing, international freight services and undertakes special projects throughout Australia. Northline provides long haul, short haul and overnight transport solutions to its customers nationally. The company also offers warehousing and contract logistics solutions at more than 100,000 square metres of warehousing space Australia wide. Northline’s freight forwarding operations include both LCL and FCL services. Its national depot network includes Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns, Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Perth, and Broome. On Monday, August 16, Northline will invite Expressions of Interest from companies seeking to become a Preferred Supplier to provide professional and reliable depot-to-depot and direct customer-to-customer, road line-haul solutions. Northline chief executive officer Craige Whitton said this was the first time Northline had issued the tender nationally. “On previous occasions, we’ve worked on a state-by-state or regional basis,” he said. |
