Billion adds VoIP to dual-WAN Wireless N routers
Billion Australia
December 01, 2008

Billion BiPAC 7404VNPX VoIP dual-WAN router In an Australian first, broadband manufacturer Billion has added VoIP (Voice over IP) support, Wireless N capabilities and four Gigabit Ethernet ports to its range of 3G-enabled ADSL2+ broadband routers.

The Billion BiPAC 7404VNX VoIP routers offer dual FXS ports for two phones and one FXO port for PSTN fixed-line support, plus the soon-to-be-ratified 802.11n wireless draft protocol and four one-gigabit LAN ports. They also provide dual-WAN (Wide Area Network) coverage with support for ADSL2+ Annex M broadband services and auto-failover to 3G networks.

This pre-Christmas release marks the first time Billion has integrated VoIP support with its dual-WAN devices. These routers deliver the ultimate benefits to SOHO and office users – economical phone calls over Internet, mobility, wireless speed coverage with no more dead zones and always on connectivity.

The Billion BiPAC 7404VNX series has two models. The 7404VNOX supports embedded IPSec VPN (Virtual Private Network) protocols, allowing users to establish encrypted private connections of up to 16 simultaneous tunnels over the Internet. The 7404VNPX supports IPSec VPN pass-through technology

Billion’s Australian distributor PC Range has undertaken comprehensive testing of the new Billion routers with 3G USB modems. The results are publicly available at http://au.billion.com/support.php#3g .

PC Range managing director Raaj Menon said the new Billion routers provided an industry-leading blend of VoIP, Wireless N, 3G and Gigabit Ethernet. “We are at the forefront of router innovation by combining all the latest technologies into one product,” he said.

“Billion’s BiPAC 7404VNX series provide the ultimate wireless and broadband Internet experience while also allowing you to make low-cost calls.”

Billion has also released two other dual-WAN routers, the VGX series, which replace the popular 7404VGPM and 7404VGOM models. As well as ADSL2+ support and 3G connectivity, these new routers offer LAN access through four 100-megabit-per-second Ethernet ports and the 802.11g wireless protocol.

All four new Billion models will be available in Australia in mid-December. Recommended retail prices are:

  • BIPAC 7404VGPX - $299

  • BIPAC 7404VGOX - $379

  • BIPAC 7404VNPX - $479

  • BIPAC 7404VNOX - $529
