Internode customers get Naked for $10 less
Internode
October 28, 2008

Internode product manager Jim KellettNational broadband company Internode has stripped $10 from its entry-level Naked ADSL2+ plans by introducing its first dialtone-free broadband services costing less than $50 a month.

With no third-party line rental charges, Internode’s Naked ADSL2+ services offer a monthly saving of $20 or more compared to paying for separate voice and broadband services. They continue to deliver savings through access to Internode’s popular NodePhone Voice over Broadband phone service.

Internode’s Home-NakedExtreme-5 service, which operates on Internode equipment, provides a fixed price NakedExtreme ADSL2+ service with a five-gigabyte (GB) monthly download quota. The Internode Home-Naked-1, running off Optus Wholesale equipment, offers a similar service with a 1GB monthly data quota.

Both new services cost $49.95 a month. Internode has also introduced static IP SOHO versions of these new plans for $59.95 and $69.95, with high upload speeds via Annex M on NakedExtreme.

Among a raft of measures that deliver more customer value, Internode has launched a range of NodePhone2 service bundles and doubled the size of its Data Blocks without increasing their price.

Internode Product Manager Jim Kellett said the new plans and service offerings were aimed at making broadband more affordable for customers. “People are feeling the pinch with high petrol prices, rising food costs and large mortgage repayments,” he said.

“By introducing new price points for our plans and delivering more value with existing services, we are helping people to upgrade to broadband or move up from a first generation broadband service.

“The beauty of an Internode Naked ADSL2+ service is that it saves monthly line rental costs and continues to deliver savings by providing our customers with 18-cent untimed national calls and low-price international and mobile call rates. It can be a real boost for the budget.”

NodePhone bundles cut call costs

Internode has undertaken major revisions to its popular NodePhone2 Voice over Broadband telephone plans, based on providing prepaid monthly bundles that deliver much more value.

For example the new NodePhone2-Starter Plan costs $5 per month with a $10 call credit, with no limitations on the type of calls made. The NodePhone2-Value Plan costs $10 per month with $20 of included calls. The NodePhone2-Premium Plan costs $20 per month with $40 worth of included calls.

Internode’s NodePhone2-Special Plan – which is available only to Internode Naked ADSL2+ and NakedExtreme ADSL2+ customers – has no monthly fee, but comes with $10 of included calls.

Unlike many other VoIP bundles, this call credit applies to any type of call – to local, national, mobile or international destinations. The new monthly inclusions apply to all new signups, as well as all existing Nodephone2 accounts.

Doubled Data Blocks deliver twice the value

In another significant move, Internode has doubled the size of its Data Blocks for the same price.

Data Blocks are an innovation introduced by Internode last year as a download quota ‘top up’ program that provides a user-friendly alternative to excess charges or slower speeds through ‘shaping’. If a customer exceeds their broadband plan’s monthly download quota, he or she can buy a “data block” of the size required to keep downloading at full speed for a predictable cost.

The $5 Data Block doubles in quota, from 1 GB to 2 GB; and the $10 Data Block rises from 2 GB to 4 GB. Higher quota data blocks offer an even better effective rate; for example the popular $15 Data Block now delivers an instant boost of 10 GB.
