One of Australia’s most popular broadband brands, Billion, expects a strong boost in sales for its industry-leading Internet access devices after signing up Westan Australia as a national distributor.

One of this country’s largest IT distributors, Westan Australia is a leader in the IT and consumer electronics markets with branches and warehousing across Australia. Westan, which distributes Billion’s BiPAC consumer products and BiGuard enterprise security range, received its first shipment in late June.

Billion’s Australian master distributor PC Range has established Billion as the most popular broadband router brand in the Australian market. After successfully distributing Billon products in South Australia since last year, Westan has taken on the range nationally because of its reliability, support and value for money. The Melbourne-based company has about 2000 resellers across all states, delivering a substantial boost to Billion’s reach in this country.

Westan Australia’s Director of Business Communications Patrick Micallef said the Billion products were well suited to complement Westan’s product range. “We identified very early on that the Billion product is becoming a widely recognised brand and is extremely popular amongst the technical community. We wanted to tap into this early success and wanted to take this brand mainstream,” he said.

“Our South Australian branch has sold Billion products for the past year and the feedback has been very positive. Our customers are very happy with Billion because of its reliability and rich set of features and quite often ask for it by name. Billion has delivered consistent product sales to date with a very low return rate and we want to capitalise on that.”

PC Range Managing Director Raaj Menon said the Westan deal would substantially increase Billion’s reseller footprint. “We’d expect that larger presence to convert into strong extra sales,” he said.

“Westan’s national reach will make it even easier for people to buy Billion. It was really obvious at the CeBIT trade show that Billion gets great word of mouth because of its high quality, value-for-money and the extended product lifetime delivered by Billion’s ongoing firmware support. These are great qualities for Westan because they mean fewer product returns, happier customers and better profit margins.”

Westan will maintain volumes of Billion stock in each state. Its business development managers will promote the products to resellers while in-house sales staff members are up to speed to take orders.

Billion expects the high volume movers to be its award-winning Billion BiPAC 7300G wireless broadband router and Billion BiPAC 7404 VoIP-enabled wireless broadband router. Both products support the ADSL2+ Annex M data transfer protocol, which doubles the upstream speed for customers of broadband providers that support the standard, such as Internode.
