Intelligent Software ‘brings data to life' at CeBIT & SIMTecT
Intelligent Software Development
May 06, 2008

Intelligent Software Development CEO on Perugini Australian company Intelligent Software Development will showcase how its breakthrough customer behaviour modelling technology "brings data to life" at the CeBIT and SimTecT tradeshows in May.

Through its Behavioural Business Intelligence Roadshow, Intelligent Software will launch its next generation predictive analysis platform for strategic planning and forecasting, which is based on Artificial Intelligence technology developed and deployed in the defence sector.

The SimTecT 2008 simulation and training technologies conference and exhibition will run from May 12-15 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The CeBIT technology trade show will run May 20-22 in the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour.

Backed by SA's Department of Trade and Economic Development, the trade show presence provides Intelligent Software with an opportunity to show potential customers the value of its SIMULAIT Artificial Intelligence-based behavioural modelling and simulation technology.

SIMULAIT allows decision makers in business, government and defence to test new products, infrastructure or policies in a virtual replica of the real world, such as a city, before implementing them in the real city. The simulation brings data to life by crystallising a vast quantity of complex data and human behaviours. As a result, planners and forecasters are able to gain greater insight and confidence into the future impact of their strategic decisions.

Intelligent Software's CEO Dr Don Perugini said SIMULAIT could turn otherwise costly mistakes into a competitive advantage. "SIMULAIT equips decision makers to readily test many options and run what-if scenarios in an environment where mistakes are inexpensive," he said.

"Additionally, decision makers can determine risks and rewards of implementing their decisions, in a system that simplifies the complexity of strategic planning which generally is too difficult to comprehend even with a team of experts."

Intelligent Software's SIMULAIT software can model thousands or even millions of components of a city, such as households, organisations and infrastructure. It also models behaviours over time, which is critical to strategic planning.

Dr. Perugini said good strategic analysis was about understanding how what was in the hearts and minds of individuals directed their behaviour. "Advanced quantitative analysis is about more than a static picture of the environment, such as maps and demographics, or just understanding what individuals do, as with traditional business intelligence,' he said.

"Intelligent Software allows decision makers to extract information not only on what individuals are doing, but gets down to the fundamental human truths of why. That's how it brings complex data to life."

The benefits of Intelligent Software's technology have been demonstrated in the SA water industry by analysing Adelaide's water pricing policies. Intelligent Software modelled more than half a million households and 400 demographic types, as well as their water consumption, household water bill and total government revenue. By simulating different water prices, SIMULAIT identified a model that provides a fairer pricing policy than is proposed while at the same time increasing revenue.

About Intelligent Software Development

Intelligent Software Development Pty Ltd has drawn on expertise from the defence industry to use Artificial Intelligence technologies to create realistic virtual models of cities for strategic planning and forecasting purposes. As with the popular SimCity computer game, Intelligent Software's AI approach models elements of a city, such as households and their demographic characteristics. This simulation can be used to assist with strategic planning and demand forecasting by running "what-if" scenarios and analysing the impact that proposed strategic decisions, infrastructure and policy will have on the population's behaviour, including demand, spending and consumption.
