National broadband
provider Internode has slashed $5 a month across the range of its 8 Megabit per
second (Mb/s) ADSL broadband plans, now called ADSL Plus.
From today, Internode ADSL Plus plans cost from $69.95 for an 8Mb/s
service with a five Gigabyte monthly download quota, providing a keen new
entry-level price point in the market. Available nationally via Telstra
Wholesale ports, Internode ADSL Plus plans provide a minimum speed of 1500k/256k
(kilobits per second) and a maximum speed of 8M/384k.
As an incentive to its customers to adopt faster speed plans, Internode
has waived its standard $20 fee for increasing the speed of an ADSL service
until June 30, 2008. Internode has 'grandfathered' its previous range of 8 Mb/s plans, which
allows existing customers to continue using them, but no new services to be
sold.
Internode product manager Jim Kellett
said customers were welcome to stay on these grandfathered plans if they chose.
"However, I'd recommend they schedule a plan change to the new ADSL Plus plans
because they are cheaper," he said.
"Customers will need to request an online plan change to take advantage
of the new price points. This is because the entire 8M/384k service type is
being renamed, repriced and repositioned: These are new plans, not simply
repriced old plans.
"Internode has been able to improve its ADSL Plus pricing because of network
efficiencies achieved through competitive backhaul pricing to the US and
the increased capacity of our international network."
Internode's broadband product ranges now start from the
following price points:
- $39.95 - Home-512-Starter;
- $49.95 - Home-Extreme-Starter and Home-1500-Power5;
- $59.95 - Home-Naked-5 and
- $69.95 - Home-Plus-5.
Internode has also renamed its Fixed Speed ADSL plans - services that
operate at the fixed speeds of 256/64k, 512/128k, 512/512k and 1500/256k - to
become ADSL Standard.
Internode's revamped ADSL Plus range follows the company's recent
decision to extend its fast replacement equipment warranty from 12 months to
24 months.
Internode continues to offer all of its plans without a contract
period. However, to recoup the cost of customer churn, it has replaced the
six-month $65
Early Termination Fee with a $65 Early Cancellation Charge, which applies to
new connections if the service is cancelled within the first 12 months.
Internode is a first tier IP carrier committed to using
broadband technology to redefine the national telecommunications environment.
The Australian-owned company is a trailblazer that delivers broadband services
to individuals and businesses throughout Australia.
