 Major networking brand Billion has launched the BiGuard 50G, a low-cost unit that provides Australian offices with a secure wireless network backed up by failsafe dual Wide Area Network (WAN) links.
Costing $653, the Billion BiGuard 50G is a standalone security gateway device that is designed for small to medium businesses seeking enterprise-level access and security.
The BiGuard 50G delivers a secure wireless environment through its built-in 802.11g access point, allowing you to quickly and easily set up a wireless network. The unit also provides always-on Internet access through two WAN connections, with an automatic fail-over feature that swaps to the second connection if the first one is disrupted.
The BiGuard 50G will be available nationally through Billion’s national reseller network from late October.
Raaj Menon, the managing director of Billion’s Australian distributor PC Range, said the BiGuard 50G was a standalone security gateway that would suit the needs of small business. “It provides them with built-in wireless as well as failsafe Internet access through its dual-WAN support,” he said.
“Increasingly, businesses are choosing to have at least two independent broadband services from separate ISPs for redundancy, so if one is disrupted, the other service remains functional. Until the 50G, these companies have needed to pay a premium to support this dual-feed Internet connectivity.
“The beauty of the BiGuard 50G is that if one line goes down, it uses load balancing and auto failover to switch quickly to the alternative line, so that your office remains always connected.”
