National broadband company Internode has revised its
NodePhone prices to make it easy for customers of rival broadband providers to
use the high quality voice-over-broadband phone service.
NodePhone effectively turns all of Australia into a local call zone by
using a broadband service to deliver 18-cent untimed calls to any fixed phone
in the country. NodePhone2 is Internode's
two-way service, which allows both incoming and outgoing calls. It
features a flexible and online-configurable voicemail system (including the
capability to send voicemail as email) at no extra cost.
As well as dropping the $20 establishment fee for a NodePhone2
service, Internode has taken the red pen to its NodePhone2 pricing for
non-Internode broadband customers. The NodePhone Value plan drops from $20 to
$10 a month and the Premium Plan, which includes $15 worth of calls, goes from
$30 to $20 a month.

Business magazine Australian Anthill is calling for young
South Australian entrepreneurs to wave the State's piping shrike flag in
nominations for its annual 30under30 competition.
Anthill publisher James Tuckerman said South Australian
nominations for the 30under30 awards have been few and far between since
applications opened in February. Ironically, SA produced the 2007 winner for Anthill's Cool
Company Award, Rising Sun Research.
Mr. Tuckerman has called on South Australians to nominate an
SA entrepreneur for this new national awards program before the April 7 closing
date. Nominees must be under 30 years of age on June 1, 2008. They
can work for their own company or work for someone else. They just need to
demonstrate that they have an entrepreneurial mindset.

In a major extension of its reach, Internode has launched its first "Naked ADSL2+" service at 350 exchanges nationally, delivering high speed ADSL2+ broadband over a dial tone-free phone line.
Through a network agreement with Optus Wholesale, Internode will offer Naked ADSL2+ from $59.95 a month including a NodePhone1* telephone service. Since customers can save money by no longer paying for a third party phone line rental fee (typically $30 per month), this prices the Naked ADSL2+ service at a nett cost of as little as $29.95 per month - or less, if low cost call charges are included.

Broadband equipment maker Billion is named as Australia's
most popular modem brand for the second year running in the 2007 Australian
Broadband Survey, held by tech-savvy site Whirlpool.
Billion devices were used by 23.7 per cent of the nearly
18,000 people * who responded to the online survey, which was conducted over
four weeks from December 31, 2007, to February 1, 2008.
Whereas last year, Billion was a narrow winner in the
Broadband Survey hardware category, this year's result made it a clear winner -
with nearly twice the penetration of the second-placed brand, D-Link, which was
used by just 12.2 per cent of survey respondents.
Six Billion broadband modems were included among the 19
devices listed by the Australian Broadband Survey, which is published at http://whirlpool.net.au/survey/2007/.
Billion's Australian distributor PC Range is following up
the Broadband Survey success with a Billion roadshow in Melbourne and Sydney
for resellers, service providers and system integrators.
PC Range managing director Raaj Menon said the events were
intended to capitalise on the success that the Billion brand was achieving in Australia.
"Customers walk into stores to ask for Billion by name because of its good
reputation," he said.
