National broadband company Internode has doubled the number of its 3G-powered NodeMobile Data broadband plans and reduced the per-gigabyte cost of its Data Blocks by almost 80 per cent. Internode has introduced three new NodeMobile Data plans, ranging in price from $24.95 for two gigabytes (2 GB) of data per month to $49.95 for 6 GB of data per month. The current $14.95 entry-level Explorer plan, with 500 megabytes of data, remains in place while a former plan has been retired. Adding to the value of its NodeMobile Data service, Internode has completely revised pricing for its Data Blocks service to range from $14.95 for 500 MB through to $49.95 for 6 GB. Data Blocks can be purchased as required if a customer exceeds their plan’s monthly data quota. To appeal to business users, each new NodeMobile Data plan has the option a static IP address, for just $5 per month extra. Static IP addresses are useful for business customers who require incoming Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections and other specialised business applications.
Launched 12 months ago, NodeMobile Data is a 3G wireless broadband data service that allows Internode customers to access the Internode network via the Optus 3G data network. The service is accessed by customers using a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card and a wireless data modem. Internode product manager Jim Kellett said the revised NodeMobile Data range allowed customers to better match their ideal monthly usage. “We’ve replaced the two previous plans with four,” he said. “Our overhaul of the Data Block pricing is because this concept has proved extremely popular on NodeMobile Data, so we’ve aligned the cost of Data Blocks with the cost of the actual plans. “The old prices cost about $40 per GB whereas now it’s reduced to a range of price points, as low as $8.33 per GB –.that’s nearly 80 per cent less than the original price. “What customers love about NodeMobile Data plans is that they have no automatic excess usage charges, which avoids the mobile broadband ‘bill shock’. Your spend is completely within your control. If you use up your monthly quota, you’re offered Data Blocks to top up your service, or you can wait for your monthly rollover to refresh your quota. It’s your choice.” Details of Internode’s new NodeMobile Data plans are at http://www.internode.on.net/nodemobiledata. The retired NodeMobile Data Value plan is “grandfathered”, so while Internode no longer sells it, current customers can stay on this plan or choose to move to a new plan.
