The world’s first wireless-linked personal weight scale, the WiFi Body Scale, which tracks your weight records for access from a PC or iPhone, is available in Australia this month at www.wifiscale.com.au.

Jam-packed with technology, the simple-to-use scale has an extra-flat, 22.8mm black-and-steel design that provides a sleek addition to any bathroom.  The WiFi Body Scale, which is already marketed in Europe, UK and the US, is sold online in Australia by specialist technology distributor PCRange. The $249 device is available until Christmas for an introductory price of $225.

Developed by French company Withings, the WiFi Body Scale measures your body weight and then records it, along with your lean & fat mass and calculated body mass index (BMI) to a secure webpage for access from a web browser or a free iPhone application, called WiScale.

PCRange CEO Raaj Menon said the WiFi Body Scale overcame the problem of recording your weight by automating the process with wireless networking. “We feel the scale delivers on all fronts,” he said.

With iPhone compatibility, the WiFi Body Scale uses bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA) to calculate your body fat composition and display it in actual weight instead of as a percentage of fat in the body. This allows more accurate tracking by avoiding daily weight fluctuations due to water gain or loss.
